How will they turn out if they follow my footsteps?

1Kings 22:52 And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the way of his father, and in the way of his mother, and in the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin:

This verse jumps off the page here. The king has been a wicked man. He has failed God. God has been so angry that the king is now dead.

The part that really grabs my heart is that he did evil because he was walking in the way of his parents! His parents didn’t do right. He learned a lifestyle from his parents that caused God to kill him and to go down in shame for all of history. 2Kings 1:18

The question that comes to my mind right now is how will my children turn out if they follow my footsteps? Will they love God? Will they repent of their sins and be saved or at least will I have given them that example? Will they love the Bible? Will they love the church?

I want to leave an example of hating sin and loving God! I want to walk in a way that will make them have strong marriages, raise godly children, be super faithful to church, etc.

I ask you today to examine your life and be honest about it. What example are you giving? Do you treat your spouse like you want your children to treat their spouse?

More importantly than all of that is do your children know that you came to a place in your life when you recognized that you were a sinner and that you accepted God’s grace and mercy to be saved? Do they know that salvation is real in your life?

Take a moment and do a spiritual inventory. Remember, they are watching you. Remember they are going to walk in your ways. Remember it is more “caught than taught!”

Remember that they will do what you do not what you say!

How will they turn out if they follow your footsteps?
