2Samuel 17:10 And he also that is valiant, whose heart is as the heart of a lion, shall utterly melt: for all Israel knoweth that thy father is a mighty man, and they which be with him are valiant men.
David is running for his life. His son, Absalom, has taken his castle and now seeks his life.
As Absalom gets advice he is told here that “all Israel knows” certain things about David. David is a mighty man. They know that the men that are with David are valiant men. They had a reputation.
So do you. You have a reputation. There are certain things that are known about you. I will not venture to even guess what they are but I think that you should.
If someone asked the people that you worked with, or your neighbors, or your family about you and your character what answer would they get. What do people know about you?
I want to think that people will “know” that I am a man of God. I want to think that they would say that I love God and His Word. I want to believe that they would say that I love my wife.
The truth is that what they know about them is what we have shown ourselves to be in front of them. It is important that you realize that you have a testimony. People are watching you. They think of you what you show them regularly.
They do not think what you want them to think. They think what they see. I pray that this little note will be a reminder and that you will work at showing them what you want them to believe. Do not fall into the trap of thinking that everyone sees you like you see yourself.
Do not think that they give you the benefit of the doubt like you give yourself. They do not. Live what you want them to know about you.
