Statistics on Pornography, Sexual Addiction and Online Perpetrators

Source

“At a 2003 meeting of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, two thirds of the 350 divorce lawyers who attended said the Internet played a significant role in the divorces in the past year, with excessive interest in online porn contributing to more than half such cases. Pornography had an almost non-existent role in divorce just seven or eight years ago.” (Divorcewizards.com)

Can you believe these devastating statistics. I love my wife so much and I can not imagine something getting into my house and mind that would destroy this wonderful relationship! This is not some idle play thing. Not some innocent time waster-it destroys families.

You know that. Get some help. Come to Vision-get saved and if you are saved get involved involved in our Addictions program.

As Christians we can always have victory!

STATISTICS ON PORNOGRAPHY’S EFFECT ON FAMILIES AND MARRIAGES

47% percent of families said pornography is a problem in their home (Focus on the Family Poll, October 1, 2003).

The Internet was a significant factor in 2 out of 3 divorces (American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers in 2003 – divorcewizards.com).

Get some controls-Our church staff uses Covenant Eyes to monitor and report all of our Internet activity. We practice accountability not because we have to but because we want to. You can see the video that I invited you to in this recent post.

Be open about your need for help. We claim we have no time today but usually that is because we watch too much TV, are on the Internet too much, are just playing self absorbed sports or games. Lets get back to exhorting one another and challenging one another to serve God.

Average age of first Internet exposure to pornography: 11 years old (internet-filter-review.com).

Largest consumer of Internet pornography: 12 – 17 year-old age group (various sources, as of 2007).

This is important not just for you but for your children. You may be fool enough to hurt yourself and think it doesn’t matter but let’s not play with our children. Remember they will be like you are and not do what you say to do.

Be faithful to God’s house. Seek Him and allow Him to lead and guide your life.
