Option number one! You can be a goer
The church of Jesus Christ is commanded to take the gospel of Jesus Christ to the entire world. It would take up lots of space to list all the verses that refer to this command but I will just give you a couple:
Paul, under inspiration of the Holy Spirit, writing to conceivably the most carnal New Testament church that got a letter said:
1Corinthians 15:34 Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.
The Great Commission was clearly given to the church and practiced by the obedient Christians. There are still literally billions that have not heard the gospel message. We must all be about our Father’s business. You should go to your friends, across the street but also across the globe with the gospel message of Jesus Christ.
Option number two! You can be a sender
Not everyone is called to go as a cross cultural missionary and as hard as it is for you to believe that I understand and know that truth, I do! But if you are not called to go then you are definitely part of the church and still called to have a MAJOR part. Not just a prayer every now and then. Not just a special offering or giving to Faith Promise but a special part. If God didn’t call you to go you should take very seriously the idea of giving much more than just a few dollars. Are you a SENDER!
Sending would include praying, giving, training, and doing all that you can to get people to the field. There should not be extreme sacrifice on the part of one and something less on the part of the other.
Let me say that missionaries do live comfortably on the field and you wouldn’t have it any other way. Yes they can buy airline tickets, computers, etc but they are still gone from family, missing home, dealing with culture shock and tons of things that those of us in the States do not have to deal with.
Remember the laborer is worthy of his hire-Will you sit here while your brother goes to war?
I want to be a sender-I want to help as many as possible get to the field. I will pray for them, give sacrificially, visit them, encourage them, love them, and do all in my power to help them.
Option number three! You can be disobedient
I do believe that there is one more option-be disobedient. You do not want to fall into this category. No we can’t save everyone. We can not make them come to Christ but we can take Christ to them. Will you be disobedient. Will you not go nor send? If you love the Lord Jesus then you should keep His commandments. Let’s take the gospel to the world!
I welcome your comments.
