Giving to missions!

I am not sure how much you understand about what our church does to support missions so I wanted to take a few minutes of your time to explain how it works.

We support 33 missionaries in 17 countries! There are so many more that are worthy of our support and needing more support! Mark and Natasha will be leaving soon to raise their support to go to China.

We are currently not meeting our monthly goals and budget requirements. This past month came in nearly $2,000 under budget. We were fine however thanks to the very generous offerings from the previous month but we are now headed into our next month and I am just praying that God will work.

I will never ask for a raise or gift or money for me but this is for the cause of world evangelism. This is to help our missionaries get to the field and do the job God has called them to do. Our church needs to be an example and center of world evangelism.

Read the following and consider it. Figure out just where you fit in the scheme of things.

Our current budget requirements for missions is as follows

$1,428 a week which means $74,256 a year and $6,188 a month. That allows us to support our missionaries and try to do something special in their lives and ministries

We average about 140 in our Sunday morning service!

That means to meet this budget we need an average of $10.20 per person per week.

That would mean that the average family of 4 would be giving just over $176 a month to missions. I know that is not possible for all but for some that would be a very small amount.

What would happen if something like the following were to take place

2 families that could give $500 a week= $1,000
5 families that could give $100 a week= $500
10 families that could give $50 a week= $500
20 families that could give $25 a week = $500
40 families that could give $10 a week = $400
50 singles could give $5 a week = $250

50 children could give $0.50 a week =$25

Total could be $3,175

Together with everyone doing what they could we would be able to give great amounts to World Evangelism

That is more than we currently need to just keep our missionaries up to date

Will you consider what you are doing for the cause of World Evangelism and only give as the Lord directs you! Remember God loves a cheerful giver and so I do not want to ask you to give out of necessity or grudgingly but because you want to!

This comes after we give to our local church to meet its needs so I know that can mean a real sacrifice. I know that the figures I have just mentioned are even more people that we have but it gives you an idea of what we can do as a team. The small gift to the big gift added up makes a world of difference.

You shouldn’t give because I ask it or push but because you truly believe in the cause of world evangelism. I do not believe that it is that difficult for us to reach our current needs of $1,428 a week! What do you think?

It is my heart’s desire and goal to support all 4 of our staff missionaries or those that are members of our church at a minimum of $500 a month so that they know that we are really behind them and love them. If you have any questions please feel free to post them here or ask me.

Mat 6:19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
Mat 6:20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
Mat 6:21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
