I enjoy our couples Sunday School Class very much. We have some of the best young couples in the world. It is always exciting to see how the Word of God applies to our lives. Each Sunday I try to share things that I think will make a difference in lives and to see God work.
Yesterday we were continuing our verse by verse or really word by word study of Colossians 3. We came to the following verse:
Col 3:12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
Zach Elrod made the following comment which really helps in the Christian life as well as in the family. “Mercy is the mindset while kindness is the action that results from that mindset.”
That is a great thought. Mercy is when we do not give or get what we deserve and so in our marriage we should learn to have mercy with our partner like God has with us. This mercy then becomes our mindset and the next word is kindness. Kindness is not just overlooking or not giving what is deserved but an action that we will show towards the other person.
What a great day! I can honestly say that most Sundays are like that. If you are not involved in one of the Sunday School classes I invite you to sign up today.
We will be dividing our Couples Class so that we will have room for more people. Every Sunday we are packed. Will you come? Will you invite someone? It is a great place to make wonderful friends but far more than that we get down to real life application of the Word of God to our lives.
See you Sunday at 9:30!
