Contentment

February 26, 2008 By Austin Gardner 1 Comment

I am reading a book called Lord, Change My Attitude Before its too late. John Pearson loaned it to me. I think that David Allison told him about it. I was just reading about Contentment. I have been under conviction for my sin of not being content with what God has given me.

The book by James MacDonald gives the following quote: Contentment is a satisfaction with God’s sufficient provision! It means to rest in what one already has and seek nothing more!

That made me want to think about being content and so here are some quotes that might interesting to you.

“Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for.” Epicurius

“We tend to forget that happiness doesn’t come as a result of getting something we don’t have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have.” Frederick Keonig

“God may allow His servant to succeed when He has disciplined him to a point where he does not need to succeed to be happy. The man who is elated by success and is cast down by failure is still a carnal man. At best his fruit will have a worm in it.” A W Tozer

Excellent quotes. I often forget that the things i have are things i once hoped for. That is tight, but right.
