Our son–missionary to Peru Prayer letter

Dear Pastors and Praying Friends,

This past month has been extremely hectic. It has been a great blessing to see God working in the lives of young people at the camps that we have hosted.

During the first full week of June we had the “Our Generation Leadership Conference” where we had a good time of preaching and teaching during the mornings and in the afternoons we took them out to see missions first hand. The first day the students went to a Hispanic community and were able to pass out tracts and spend some time with the people there. The next day we went to China town in Atlanta and the young people had the opportunity to speak with some Chinese people, try their (real) food and visit a Buddhist temple along with a Hindu temple. And the last day, we took the students to a Muslim Mosque in downtown Atlanta and allowed them to see, first hand, what these people are like and what Islam is all about.

The most shocking thing to me was to see the passion that these people had for their dead gods! In the Hindu temple, the people actually had to “wake” their idols up before we came, because they were taking a nap. I thought about the love, honor, respect, reverence and fear that these people had for their gods and how it is so easy for us to live our lives for ourselves each day when we not only serve, but know a living God that cares about us and has given us the privilege of being called his sons and daughters. We should more fervently serve the Almighty God in heaven, knowing that he is real and has given us peace and joy. Let’s glorify his name!

Please keep praying for our support to continue coming in. We are praying that God would allow us to leave by the beginning of 2008. We are excited to see what God is going to do in our lives and in Peru.

Katie and I will be leaving for Peru on July the 11th and will return on August the 9th. We desperately need your prayers. There will be so many things going on during this month and we need you to pray for the following things:

Youth Congress: During the first week of August we will be having our annual Youth Congress. We will be seeing many people coming in from outside the city of Arequipa and we are going to be housing them at the Bible College. Please pray that God will provide the necessary funds for all of our expenses during that week. If you would like to take part in this please send your check to Macedonia World Baptist Missions and designate it to the Peru Bible College.

Medical Mission Trip:
During the same time of the Youth Congress we are having a group of 65 American doctors, nurses and nursing students come to Peru to run a medical clinic at the Bible College. Please pray that people would come to receive medical treatment and then hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We are hoping to see anywhere from 3000 to 5000 people come, so please pray with us about that.

Medicine:
The group that is coming will be bringing literally a TON of medicine with them when they come for the clinic. Please pray with us that we can make it through customs without any hassles and get the medicine to Arequipa. We desperately need your prayers on this.

Thank you so much for all of your prayers and support.

For His Glory,
David and Katie Gardner
