Why our church staff uses Covenant Eyes!

Covenant Eyes is a program to monitor and report on every page you view on the internet. It is not a filter but it is an accountability software. There is a tremendous and ever increasing problem with porn on the internet. It helps maintain a good testimony to have such accountability. It helps keep good men honest. It is our desire to always honor and glorify Jesus Christ even by not setting anything wicked before our eyes. Check out Covenant Eyes.

  1. I only glanced at the safe eyes web site but I am glad for anything that you can use that would help a Christian maintain his testimony. It is more expensive than covenant eyes and what I like about covenant eyes is that it does not block me from any page that I want to look at it simply records the page and sends it to my accountability partner. You can not use a covenant eyes computer on the internet unless you log in and then you can not turn the program off without uninstalling which must be done by contacting covenant eyes who will then contact your accountability partner.

  2. SafeEyes has those same features you mentioned that Covenant Eyes has, but many more.

I personally prefer a filter – which you can have the admin turn on or off, or have certain categories on or off.

Since I’m on the Net all day long, I don’t want to stumble upon a site that is inappropriate and I don’t want to be looking at things I shouldn’t be looking at. I personally don’t have the strength to just be able to look at whatever comes up on the screen – there’s just too much junk out there.

    Here’s how I use it:

I purchased it, installed it and made my wife the admin. I have no idea how to access the admin area – only she does. So in other words, she’s in control of my surfing. Now, if there’s a site that’s filtered that I just HAVE to see – then I have her come in and add that site as a site I can access.

The software will also optionally alert her via email, phone, or text message if I try visiting a site that I shouldn’t be visiting. She prefers the email, obviously. But if you have kids/teenagers, the text or phone alerts may be a great option.

The software can send a log of all sites visited or allow someone to login to a “Friends” area to review the sites visited. It can store this information on the local PC for easy access. It is only deletable by the admin.

    Here’s some more features:
    Safe Eyes Parental Controls Include:

    1. Content Controls – Flexible “Internet Filtering” allows you to select the types of website that are appropriate.

    2. Program Controls – Control Instant Messengers, P2P File Sharing, and other harmful programs.

    3. Time Controls – Control the amount of time spent online, and the times when the internet is available. Great if you have children or want to limit yourself on how long you’re on the Net!

    4. Usage Logging – Create and review logs of websites visited, programs used on the Internet, and Instant Messaging Chats.

    5. Usage Alerts – Be notified instantly via email, text message, or phone call when someone visits inappropriate websites.

    Parental Controls For Website Content:

There are many different types of websites that can be potentially harmful to children. With 35 categories, our parental control software gives you the ability to fine tune access to websites and ensure that harmful content is blocked. Our effective Internet filtering will ensure that your children are protected whenever they go online.

    Instant Messaging Parental Controls
Whether you are interested in blocking Instant Messaging or just monitoring who your children are chatting with, Safe Eyes parental control software helps you accomplish the task with ease. Our parental controls allow you to monitor Yahoo!, AOL Instant Messenger, ICQ, and MSN Instant Messenger.

    Control Time Spent Online
The Internet can be a great resource for homework, research projects and fun activities. But it can be easy to get sidetracked playing games or watching videos online. Our parental controls allow you to specify the amount of time that can be spent online, and the times of the day when the Internet is available.

In summary, I think that Covenant Eyes is great for church staff, if everyone on the staff is strong enough to be able to look at things they shouldn’t be looking at in the first place.

BUT – I think the typical family would be much better served by using SafeEyes. It’s a better overall solution for the husband, wife and especially in protecting the children.

And as far as price is concerned, SafeEyes is only $49.95 a year for 3 PCs – perfect for a family.

Covenant Eyes doesn’t look cheaper to me, at $75.00 a year for 1 user.

Lastly, here’s just SOME of the reviews of SafeEyes:

Consumer reports isn’t mentioned, but they rated Safe Eyes #1 for this category of software.

I think that is wonderful and I appreciate your explaining how to use the program. I will begin promoting safe eyes as well. We do pay only about $30 a year for the cost of our covenant eyes as a large group. I am in favor of whatever we can do as Christians to keep ourselves from wickedness and to do right so thank you very much for your information. I believe that Christians should avail themselves of every means to stay away from one of the worse possible enemies of holiness like pornography.

Thanks for commenting and Thanks for your wisdom. God bless you.
