The following is a letter written by Jeremy to some friends trying to get the gospel to them. I liked the letter and I was excited about his desire to reach his friends so I thought that I would post his letter so you could read it. Maybe you could do something similar to try and get the gospel to your friends. I believe one of the major ways we as “Christians†mess up is we try to explain/persuade/draw others to God in our on way. I’m not going to debate or argue any of what I’m about to say. I’m simply going to state some very important truths contained in the Word of God and I know they will not return void. It may not appear now but it will. Isaiah 55:11 says So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. We can sit and debate God and his desires all day but we must use the Word (reason I capitalize that “W†is because the Bible says in John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.) if anything is going to get accomplished. We must know God before we can talk of God else wise we’re just philosophizing. Romans 10:17 says So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Faith is a “must haveâ€!! But it must be the right kind of faith. It cannot be your own faith, something you’ve been able to obtain on your own. Everyone has faith. The faith I’m talking about is that which God gives as a gift to whomever through the preaching/teaching of His word (Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are you saved through faith; that not of yourselves: it is a gift of God); and again it comes by hearing. So in a since it is your faith but it’s only yours because He gave it to you. When we believe (I’ll get to how in a min) in the One true God he gives us all rights to become the “sâ€ons of God (Notice the lower case “s†John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:), not God! Whether we believe or not, does not negate the fact that this is truth. John 8:32 say Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. Jesus himself is truth as he claimed in John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth and the life: no man cometh unto the father but by me. We must know “the truth†and not what we perceive to be truth in order to become the sons of God and gain all that which this title includes (peace, eternal life, trials, tribulations, etc.). The Bible says God has darkened the eyes of man. Ephesians 4:8 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: Those with out Christ cannot know God. They are alienated from him, living in darkness. Why? Because they have separated themselves from him. How? By sinning. Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. And because of this sin (A simple JHall definition of sin = doing what we want and not what God wants) we get exactly what we desire, separation. Man desires to do his on thing; find God his on way; live life how he wants to live; and he can and does just that but there are consequences. For ever action there is an equal and opposite reaction. That’s not Newton law, that’s God’s law. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ. The death spoken of in this verse is not just a physical death, although we gain that too (Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:), but a spiritual death. The word death there quit literally means separation (personally I believe this is the worst part about Hell, not the literal lake of fire which ever unbeliever will suffer, but the separation form God forever). The only way one’s eyes can be enlightened is by believing in God/Jesus (Luke 22:67-71 explains along with many other passages all through the scriptures Jesus is God in the flesh. This is something that is difficult to understand, even explain but regardless it’s truth) Ephesians 1:17-18 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, You see He is the only one who can and will enlighten us if we just believe, if we call on Him. Romans 10:9-13: That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Saved from what? That Judgment to come mentioned earlier. What are we believing on? The death burial and resurrection (This is a hard saying, Jesus disciples thought the same thing: (John 6:60….This is a hard saying; who can hear it?) 1Corinthians 15:3-9 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the Scriptures: And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. Many people all over ask the purpose of this life; many people miss the purpose. Our purpose is to know our creator and please Him. Every creation is created for the purpose of its creator. We’re no different! In short what pleases our creator is that His creation would know and obey Him. He came and gave His all on the cross at Calvary so you and I could be reconciled to Him. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeith in him should not perish but have everlasting life. Friend, this is truth. This is what I’ve dedicated my life to proclaiming. It’s not just a message I’ve gotten from some preacher, but what I’ve been given for my God. I am the preacher now and my intentions are to proclaim the gospel (good news of what Jesus did for you/me and every other person on this earth) to the world. Jesus last command was to “Goâ€. Matthew 28:19-20 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen. You’re a good friend and I pray for you daily. Just because I’m not around doesn’t mean I don’t think of you and everyone else. I’m sorry I don’t stay in contact more often. I will try harder. One more thing really quickly, the Bible also says in James 4:17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin. And then in Psalms 66:18 If I regard iniquity(sin) in my heart, he will not hear my prayer. I want my prayers to be heard; therefore I’m going to do all that I know to do. He will hear my prayers and he will answer them because He says so. John 14:14 (another beautiful promise from God) If ye ask anything in my name I will do it. I pray that my Lord will give you the faith to understand and believe all that’s been said. Love, Jeremy
