Well, we suffered Tuesday for the cause of Christ on the Mission Field. Manicures, Pedicures and hair cuts at the Salon. Natasha Witt became sick for a few days so we cancelled our Puno trip, and filled in some time.Yesterday, we were able to go to a small fishing town deep in the mountains. It is approx. 2 hour bus drive through steep mountain terrain and I have to say I have never felt closer to my Lord than when I was praying for safety on that ride. We made our way to the Pacific Coast and visited a small church started by Percy Lopez. Bible Baptist is the only baptist church around for 2 hours and only seats at the most 75 people. The Pastor of the church was a young man who was discipled by Brother Ronald Tibbius. He has hope on day of buying the building next door. The owner lives in the states and doesn’t want to think about it at all, not even to sell it. Let’s pray that the Lord will open his heart so that Bible Baptist can expand. He was so excited to have us there. He volunteered to take us around the city. We went to the beach and all of us ladies, jumped in (luckily we had a changed of clothe). Than we went to the Fishing docks. Other than a rather close encounter with a Peruvian police officer, it was a great experience.
“Crazy Little Man”. That is what I nicknamed our cab driver as he took us through the mountains going at least 60 MPH. Thankfully we made it safely to the docks. After returning to Arequipa, we attended Faith’s Christmas Contatta. There was beautiful music and a touching drama. It’s hard for us to think we will be coming home soon. We have all in one way or another fallen in love with this city. I only pray that each of us will use this opportunity and our experience here to further his cause in someway back home.
