Chris Gardner’s August Prayer letter

Dear Pastors and Praying Friends

What an incredible month this has been.  We have seen God do so many things.  The ministries here are going very well and we are excited about all that God is doing.  This month we had the 8th Youth Conference.  We didn’t know what to expect. In the past we had slightly over 70 people come in from different cities around the country.  This year, even though we didn’t have many invitations go out, we had over 270 people come from outside the city of Arequipa that stayed at the Bible College.  That meant that along with the regular number of Bible College students we had over 400 people sleeping very uncomfortably on the Bible College land.  We saw over 60 professions of faith and had about 35 called to full time ministry.  We had the privilege of having Grace Baptist Church from Bridgeport, West Virginia visiting with us during the conference. They had an incredible spirit and helped in many ways.  This group helped in the construction, work in the kitchen, clean up, serving, and so many other areas.  What a blessing they were not only to us but to our people.  On the last night we had our largest attendance ever of close to 1600 people.

We are now gearing up for our Pastor’s School.  We are expecting to see God do some of the same things in that week. Be praying that God would do some great things in the Pastor’s lives as well.  Please be praying for my wife’s pregnancy.  She should be giving birth about the same dates that we are having Pastor’s School.  I am hoping that they don’t happen at the same time if so; things could get real interesting since my wife is the pianist and I am the host of the conference.  Please be praying that God would do everything in His time (and I am praying that by His mercies that will mean that our son will wait until after Pastor’s school to be part of this world.Every time we have been to the doctor she has said that everything looks perfect.  We praise the Lord that everything looks good and that Lord willing we will be having a baby boy in the month of October.  Right now the Lord has allowed me to go out and preach a revival meeting in Villa Rica.  Villa Rica is a city of about 50,000 people where the Lord has allowed one of our students to go and pastor.  We will be arriving there in a few more hours and once we arrive we will have spent a total of 24 hours on a bus to get there.  We are looking forward to all that God is going to do while we are there preaching.  This city is on the border of the jungle.  Pray that this revival goes well.  There are a few other Baptist churches that are there that have no pastor and they are wanting to meet with us to ask if there is anything that we can do to send workers out here.  I thank God that he has allowed us to prepare men and women to do great things for God.

I would also like to let you know that this month Macedonia World Baptist Missions has asked me to become the Spanish South American Director.  This is a blessing and we are looking forward to seeing what we can do to serve the missionaries around South America.  Thanks for all that you do.

Yours for Souls,

Chris, Andria, Jacob, Hannah and the Future Andrew Paul Gardner
