Birthplace: My name is Gubert Vargas; I was born in Quillabamba district, province of La Convencion , department of Cusco – Peru in 1981 year February 14th. My family is: my father Mario Vargas, My mother Marcelina Cáceres and my brothers Dennis Vargas and Jhon Vargas. My sending church is “Iglesia Bautista Jerusalem”, and my pastor is Hector del Carpio.

How I came to know Christ: It was in 2000 year, February 14th when I was 19 years old, involved with drugs and alcohol and studying in an institute. I was getting worse in sin and my parents were loosing their patience with me. They tried a lot of time to change me, even they sent me to the catholic church where I was in a group called “jóvenes sin fronteras” (youth without frontiers), where we made things that supposed pleased God. Even in that place I felt emptiness in my hearth and without God presence. One day a friend from the school came to my house for inviting me to the “Iglesia Bautista” ,(Baptist church), but I didn't agree and she kept inviting me so I accepted just for commitment in December 29th where I went for a while. When I came back home from a Youth Camp in Arequipa city I accepted Jesus in the roof of my house the very day of my birthday.

How Christ has changed my Life: I felt released and cleansed from all my sins, knowing Christ erased them. I began to read the Bible and I assisted to the church. My parents realized the change in my life, so they tried to put out my new love for Christ, even the locked my house with me inside to kept me far away of the church but I ran away trough the window. Now the relation I have with them is different, they still don't know Christ because they are Catholics, I couldn't witnessed them, although now we are better, they went to the church once and I think one day they will accept Jesus. They treat me very good now, and they are both happy with my decision. I pray God they accept his Son before they die, and one of my bother is already saved, and the other one is going to the church and is in the process to get saved.

My Calling into the Ministry: I decided to study at the seminary in March of 2002, when I was working in my church, assisting the youth meetings and preaching Sunday school for kids and teens I felt the need to preach other people about Christ, become pastor and I heard from the leader of my church that the seminary in Arequipa could prepare me better to work full time for the Lord and depend completely from Him. I accepted the God's call and I went to study in Arequipa . Right now I'm in the last year and get graduated in December; thank God I could make my dreams and goal. Finish the seminary.

My Plans for the future: I would like to start the work in Cusco city, work with the young mans and adults. Open a training ministry to train leaders, and Planting churches in different parts of the same city. Cusco has a population of 1'200,000, and only one church preaching the gospel, and I'd like to reach all Cusco people.
