We forget so easily

We forget so easily

Judges 8:34-35 And the children of Israel remembered not the LORD their God, who had delivered them out of the hands of all their enemies on every side: Neither shewed they kindness to the house of Jerubbaal, namely, Gideon, according to all the goodness which he had shewed unto Israel.

When God gave Israel their final victory and peace was on every side they soon forgot what God had done for them. Success breeds pride and arrogance. Humility and need causes us to run to the Lord God. Once we get what we want we often simply take Him and what He has done for us for granted.

Also notice that they forgot the man God used to bring the blessing. There is a lesson here for all of my pastor and missionary friends. Expect to be forgotten. Don’t get caught up in their momentary praise and love. Know that it is not about you. They will soon forget what the Lord did and they will surely forget you.

So don’t do it to be remembered or to be appreciated it. Do it all for His honor and glory or it will have no meaning soon!

Your Traditions or the Word of God

Mark 7:9 And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.

In these verses there seems to be no middle ground, they are either completely rejecting God’s Word or they obeying it. They prefer to keep their own tradition. What they like is what they will do. What their parents told them. What other people in their society have done and tell them.

We must make an active effort to know the heart and mind of God about everything. He is God. He knows what is best. His Word will bring much more blessing and fulfillment than doing our own thing.
