William Carey was born on August 17, 1761. At Vision I like to remember these great men of God that paved the way for much of what we do today. I call the Sunday closest to William Carey’s birth, William Carey Sunday! That will be tomorrow. I challenge you to consider some of Carey’s famous quotes:
Carey requested the following epitaph:
A wretched, poor and helpless worm, on Thy kind arms I fall.
This is what Carey asked of his friends who did not go to the mission field. At Vision, we are the senders and the yokefellows:

The following quote comes from his most famous sermon. This sermon was used to stir England to begin the Modern Missionary Movement.

Carey said that the secret to his success as a missionary could be summed up in this quote:

My church in Kettering (Rockingham Road Baptist) will be celebrating William Carey’s birth on Sunday 14th August. It was in Kettering in 1792 that Carey met with other church leaders and volunteered to go as the first missionary to India. Others soon followed his pioneer example and the modern missionary societies became established. Kettering was the headquarters of the Baptist Missionary society for a number of years.
