Nehemiah 8:8 So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading.
What is real Bible preaching? You hear people say that guy is a real preacher. That was real preaching. Many times that is said because of emotion, good stories, or lots of noise.
The Bible here tells us what real preaching is.
They read the Bible distinctly. They read it clearly so that the people could understand what was being read. They read it in its context. The emphasis here is on the Bible, the Word of God.
Then after they read the Word they gave the sense or helped put it in other words that might make it easier to understand by God’s people.
Then they caused the people to understand what had been read. They explained clearly what the Word of God said.
They didn’t use big words to impress nor did they act as though they were the only ones that could get such revelation from God. They just helped the people understand what God was saying.
So be careful the next time you say something is Bible preaching or good preaching. Did they open the Bible, read it clearly, make it understandable? If not, was it really Bible preaching?
