Until you finish

1Chronicles 28:20 And David said to Solomon his son, Be strong and of good courage, and do it: fear not, nor be dismayed: for the LORD God, even my God, will be with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee, until thou hast finished all the work for the service of the house of the LORD.

God had given Solomon a job to do. David reminds him of the importance of this work. He encourages him to be strong, of good courage, to not get discouraged, or be afraid. His encouragement is based on knowing that God has a special job for Solomon to do.

David says, God will not fail you or forsake you until you finish what He has for you to do. What a statement! What an announcement for a dad to make to his son!

It was true and I believe that it is still true today. God has a purpose for you to fulfill. All you need to do is find out what God wants you to do and then do it.

Solomon was not a preacher nor a missionary. He was not a “man of God” in the traditional sense of the word. He was a politician. He was a ruler. He governed. But God still had a plan for his life.

He has a plan for your life. It may be to build something for His honor and glory. It may be to help someone else do something like that but it is God’s plan.

You need not feel like a second class citizen if you know what God wants you to do and are doing it. Maybe you will build the temple where He will be worshipped. You are not the preacher but with out you the preacher will have no where to preach.

God will take care of you until you are finished. Would you quit trying to be someone else? Would you seek God’s will for your life and do it? Would you quit thinking that building the temple was of less importance than anything else?

Will you just find your race to run and run it with all you have in you? The will of God for your life is that you would bring honor and glory to Him. You do not have to preach or do what He gifted another to do. Just do what He made you to do!
