Who are you trying to please?

Judges 14:3 Then his father and his mother said unto him, Is there never a woman among the daughters of thy brethren, or among all my people, that thou goest to take a wife of the uncircumcised Philistines? And Samson said unto his father, Get her for me; for she pleaseth me well.

Samson gets hurt by women every time he turns around in his life story. Samson ignores what God would have wanted for him. God would want him to marry someone who loved Him, God! Samson’s parents had other wishes for their son. They also wanted him to marry someone that loved God, someone from their own people.

As I read this I asked myself how many times I make decisions based on what I think will please me. I fear that most of us tend to do what we think will please us and little consideration do we give to what might please God.

I know that God uses every decision that Samson makes to get glory for Himself. I know that God can use even our mistakes to honor Himself and I am glad for that. Now the consideration ought to be, what pleases God.

We are saved. We serve Him. We should make a decision today to try and please God with every decision we make.

Do you give to the Lord through your church in a way that pleases you or Him?

Do you read your Bible like you want to, as it pleases you, or what you think He might want you to do?
Do you treat your wife, husband, children, friends, neighbors, or even strangers like you think pleases God or what you want to do?

I hope to seek to please God not myself. Today is a good day to make that decision. Will you tell him that you want His will and to please Him?
