Knowing God's Will

Philippians 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure

.

Mission’s Conference is over. God spoke to your heart. You want to know exactly what He wants you to do. I am so glad that you do. Here is my advice to you:

Relax. Don’t put pressure on yourself. Do not think that God wants to jerk you around or force you to go somewhere or do something that you do not want to do. He is a good God. His will for you is always the best and most fulfilling for you.

He will work in your heart. He worketh in you. He produces in you. He works in your heart.

He puts in your heart the will, the desire, the want to. For many years I was very confused about being called of God. All I knew was that I wanted to serve God with all of my heart. I knew that I loved teaching and preaching. I knew that I dreamed of being a missionary, a pastor, etc.

I wouldn’t say I was called though because I was waiting on something drastic to happen to me. God needed to drop a sledge hammer out of heaven that would hit me in the head. It couldn’t be that I would want to preach. I had heard too many preachers talk about running from God and His call.

I was very insecure about being a preacher. I was very insecure about whether or not I could do a good job but I had an all consuming, desire that would not go away. It was always on my mind. When I thought of what I wanted to do it was to be in full time ministry.

Finally, a my youth director explained to me that it wasn’t natural for me to be so hungry about serving God full time. God was producing this great desire in me.

He not only gave me the desire but he gave me “do” or ability to be in the ministry. He opened the doors for me. He caused people to want to hear me preach and teach. He gave me His power to see lives changed.

Now again I say relax. Relax and realize that if God is calling you that it will be what you spiritually want. It will be the greatest desire of your heart.

Do not relax in your pursuit of God. Seek Him. Seek Him with all that is in you. Love Him. Want to serve Him, but relax in what you are supposed to do. You get close. You fall in love with Him and His will will be clear to you.

Last thing, God is not a mafia boss that wants to hurt you. I highly doubt all the threat stuff that is so often talked about. He is not going to cut off your fingers if you do not serve Him. He is not going to kill your dog.

He wants what is best. You might run from Him into sin and get burned but He is not the one trying to hurt you. There is now no condemnation to them that are in Christ Jesus. Romans 8:1

So relax and pursuit. By the way the pursuing is fun. I pursued Betty, my wife, loved pursuing her then and love pursuing here now.

The same with God but to a much greater extent.
