Tonight before the message from Ephesians we will look at some more Baptist History. I want to introduce you to Shubal (Shubael) Stearns.
Late 1755 to early 1756 Stearns moved to North Carolina and started the Sandy Creek Baptist Church with 16 members-the majority were his family members. 8 men and their wives. The church quickly grew to 606 members

This church over the next 17 years became mother, grandmother, and great grandmother to 42 churches, from which sprang 125 ministers. That is a church planting movement!
What is amazing to me is Shubal Stearns was almost 50 years old when he started Sandy Creek Baptist Church. He died at 75. In those 25 years he had a tremendous influence on this nation for God. God can do great things with people no matter when they come to Him, if they will just yield to His will.
