Get some training!

Ecclesiastes 10:10 If the iron be blunt, and he do not whet the edge, then must he put to more strength: but wisdom is profitable to direct.

This verse cries out to everyone of us to get some training and preparation for the work we are to do. We have been given tools to do the work. They are blunt however. They need to be sharpened. We can work with what we have but it will require more strength. It seems that you would be wiser to learn so that you know how to use what God has given you to do the work.

My dad used to say that you will not live long enough to make all the mistakes yourself so try to learn from the mistakes of others. I challenge those of you that are going to the mission field to get the training before you go. Learn from the mistakes of others.

I challenge those of you that feel called of God to serve Him, to preach, to pastor, to get training. Do not only get the book learning but get into a mentor relationship with someone.

I challenge everyone of you to get involved in discipleship to learn and prepare yourself for the ministry that God has for you.

Great post… I have never noticed that verse but it is great. I will be sharing this with our teens as soon as possible.

This is a great verse that speaks also to taking time from the work to refresh and charge your batteries. Think of the lumber jack cutting down the trees with an axe. If he does not take the time to sharpen his axe between jobs, he will not be as effective. As you point out, he will work harder and his work will be poor quality. God does not intend to work us until we drop. We have to take the time to refresh our relationship with him. And get that training.
