Exciting News from RU

Here is a clip from the Reformers Unanimous blog written by Scott Newton. I hope you will subscribe and start keeping up with what God is doing.

We had a great meeting yesterday, with 8 people in attendance, and 2 first time visitors! We are excited about what God is doing, and we are looking forward to seeing Him change lives all over the Alpharetta area.
We studied a portion of the life of king David, and saw how that even a Christian that loves God can make mistakes that hurt his life and those around him when he takes his eyes off of the Lord. Even though David fell and sinned against God, he recognized that God’s love for him would never change.
Even though we are unfaithful at times, Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever! Our salvation and standing with God does not fall with us, because it does not rest with us. Hebrews 12:2 says that He is the Author and Finisher of our faith: He started it, and He will end it. Thank God for His faithfulness and love to us!

It starts at home

Friends, parents, neighbors first it will embrace
Our country next, and next the human race.

The Gospel does affect homes first. In Scotland it led to a type of home life and family religion fitted to produce young men and women whose great interest was the service of Christ…. [John Paton's] autobiography provides an unforgettable account of the prayerfulness of his father…

The Lowland cotter’s lad cherished and guarded in his heart the spell of his father’s habit of communion with God, and the vision of his mother’s absorbed passion to win her children to see fear and love the Most High. These were his main equipment in life. No science can produce them; no money can purchase them.

One of the most remembered sounds of Patton’s childhood was his father’s voice, at family worship, as “he poured out his whole soul with tears for the conversion of the heathen world to the service of Jesus.” The thatched cottage of the Patons was only one of many such nurseries. Most of the Scottish missionaries came from homes and backgrounds where simple living, hard work, many sacrifices and earnest devotion were the every day experiences of youth. (A Scottish Christian Heritage, 222-223)

Quite the stir!

A news article is causing quite the stir, as it should, in the world evangelism community. It speaks of an uncontacted Indian tribe that was recently spotted in the Brazil.

tribe

The secular world is concerned for preserving their isolation so that they can follow their evolutionary instincts, I suppose. They do need the gospel and I am very glad that God’s people are concerned to get the gospel to them. But even more I wish we could see that same stir and hoopla over all the people right now around the world that do not have the gospel preached to them.

Nearly 40% of the world is still without a clear gospel presentation. Even countries where missionaries are –are not being reached. Much of the so called gospel preaching of today is prosperity gospel, political messages, healing, and experiential preaching rather than a clear presentation of what the Word of God says.

We need missionaries who will step forward and be Bible preaching, church planting missionaries all around the globe. Our colleges need to step up and challenge more young people to go into world evangelism. Our pastors and pulpits need to proclaim the Great Commission so clearly given to us.

I hope you enjoy this article but I also hope it burns deep within you the need for us to plant more churches in the USA and send many more missionaries around the world.

Fox News

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil — One of Brazil’s last uncontacted Indian tribes has been spotted in the far western Amazon jungle near the Peruvian border, the National Indian Foundation said Thursday.

• Click here to view photos.

The Indians were sighted in an Ethno-Environmental Protected Area along the Envira River in flights over remote Acre state, said the Brazilian government foundation, known as Funai.

Funai said it photographed “strong and healthy” warriors, six huts and a large planted area. But it was not known to which tribe they belonged, the group said.

“Four distinct isolated peoples exist in this region, whom we have accompanied for 20 years,” Funai expert Jose Carlos Meirelles Junior said in a statement.

The tribe sighted recently is one of the last not to be contacted by officials. Funai does not make contact with such Indian tribes and prevents invasions of their land to ensure their autonomy, the foundation said.

Survival International said the Indians are in danger from illegal logging in Peru, which is driving tribes over the border and could lead to conflict with the estimated 500 uncontacted Indians now living on the Brazilian side.

There are more than 100 uncontacted tribes worldwide, most of them in Brazil and Peru, the group said in a statement.

“These pictures are further evidence that uncontacted tribes really do exist,” Survival director Stephen Corry said.

“The world needs to wake up to this, and ensure that their territory is protected in accordance with international law. Otherwise, they will soon be made extinct.”

Books I am reading

I am not sure if all of the Vision people know it but I have sort of combined the 4 blogs that I was doing into this one. Makes it easier for me to just post it here than trying to figure out which one to post it on. Also many of the people that read this blog were trying to keep up with the others also.

One of the things that I talk about is the books that I am reading and so I thought I might tell you sort of where I have been over the last couple of weeks.

A Tale of Two Sons by MacArthur on the Prodigal Son

A Tale of Two Amish Men– A parody about or maybe almost against the politics of the independent Baptist movement. Some good points–often a little too harsh I thought.

I read two of the Terrestria series by Ed Dunlop and have now read three of them. I love them. I will read the other four before the end of next month. Good sermon illustrations, good Bible truths, heart touching and warming in the way he tells the story.

Anxious for Nothing: God’s Cure for the Cares of Your Soul by John MacArthur–good stuff and I wanted more when it was over.

Standing Strong: How to Resist the Enemy of Your Soul by John MacArthur which I felt was one of the best presentations of Spiritual Warfare that I have read–Biblical not Experiential training.

I have also been reading a ton on blogs but this is some good material to consider.

You will not want to miss this week!

For Vision people and for those who live close–you are not going to want to miss this week. We will have several people visiting with us and helping in the Our Generation Leadership Camp. The list below I think includes everyone but I may have left someone out. They are in alphabetical order! Each night you will be able to come and hear them also.

Aaron and Jillian from North Africa–God has been doing a tremendous work in their lives that you will want to hear as well as the chance to learn more about reaching Muslims with the gospel of Jesus Christ

Chris and Andria Gardner, Peru–The work of God is being tremendously blessed under their ministry and they are preparing people to go to all the world from the Bible College. Also the TV ministry is getting stronger and stronger.

David and Katie Gardner, Peru–learn how to reach the more unreached rural areas of a country starting in Peru with the Circuit Riding ministry.

David and Beth Gates, Egypt on Deputation

Kevin Hall, South Africa–greatly used of God to reach the Xhosa people. You will love what you hear and see from this ministry.

Tony and Stacey Howeth, Missionary Evangelist–God is using this man to raise up World Evangelism awareness all over the USA and now branching out more and more to the world.

Tyler and Gretchen Masters, North Africa project–What a privilege to see the Masters just for few hours before they head to North Africa leading a group to work with our missionaries there.

Kevin and Beth White, Bolivia–Already two churches started and going. God is using this family in a great way you will not want to miss them

Along with presentations via Skype from several of our missionaries and then the Vision staff:

Philip Bassham

Robert Canfield

Mark Coffey

Trent Cornwell

Micah Rastelli

Mark Tolson

David Velke

On Tuesday night there will be no service since we are going to take everyone to a Braves Baseball game. That leaves you a chance to come on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings. I think that it will be well worth your while.

I hope you will make plans to come and let God work in your life.

Deacons in Training Classes

This Sunday afternoon we will be holding deacon training classes in my office from 1 to 4. This class is open to anyone that might like to come and get the training. It will be a blessing and help you learn better how to serve. I would like for you to inform me if you would like to come so that I can have the copies of the notes ready.

We will have these 3 hour sessions for the next three months before we, Lord willing, name some to be deacons in our church.

Exciting World Evangelism News

I just came across this news on the web and am excited to see how great our God is and all that He is doing.

At this link I found the following quote:

But we’re really excited about helping Pastor Sexton start a division of Crown College for linguistics and Bible translation.

Be looking on http://www.worldevangelism.com/. This is the latest thing that Bill is helping Pastor Sexton accomplish. We want to create a resource for churches worldwide to help accomplish world evangelism in our generation!

I am so blessed and excited to see how God is bringing world evangelism to the forefront. I hope you will be watching for the launch of www.worldevangelism.com. I am excited that Crown will be starting these new programs and that God will use this great school to make a difference in the cause of world evangelism. More people praying to accomplish world evangelism in our generation. It has to be a move of God. Amen

From Prescott, Arizona

Betty and I along with John and Sandy Pearson, Trent Cornwell, Mark Coffey, Tony Howeth, Chris Gardner, David Gardner, Wayne Cofield, Kevin Hall, and of course Clark Hall (Kevin’s son) and then a heap of Jeremy’s family are here for the wedding of Jeremy and Bekah Hall.

I am excited to see young missionaries getting married and giving their lives to totally glorify and serve God. What a special time. Please pray for this young couple.

I am so excited about our services this Sunday. The morning message from I Peter is going to be such a wonderful blessing. I can’t wait for our deacon in training classes that will take place Sunday afternoon, then the teachers and workers meeting later followed by a great discipleship lesson.

It is really good to always be able to look forward to an exciting time in the Word of God in God’s house. I hope you are getting everything ready and inviting someone to come and be with you. It is going to be a wonderful day to serve and honor God.

A public word to Jeremy and Bekah

you

I just want to take this opportunity to tell both of you that I love you and am very proud of you. Jeremy you are like son and a brother to me. I could never tell you how much that I love you and how I have seen God do such great work in your life.

I pray that God will continue to do great things with and in you and that this is just the beginning of a wonderful happy marriage much like Betty and I have had. I look forward to working together many years. Thanks for allowing us to have a small part in things today.

Bekah, you are an answer to prayer. I truly believe that God has brought you together for some great things that He has planned. He will do great things in your life. You are marrying a most wonderful, tender, compassionate, God loving man.
