What to do when everything is out of control!

I can’t wait for Sunday. Go ahead and be reading Acts 27 and get ready for a great Bible passage and great truths that can be applied directly to your life and situation!

Tonight we will learn more about how to disciple. Don’t be shocked when you come into the auditorium tonight. It will be set up with tables and ready for you to sit and take notes. Learning to disciple is one of the most important lessons we can learn. It is going to be wonderful as you learn to teach others the great truths of God’s word and help them left blessed and successful lives.

Super Special Thank you!

Yesterday, our church, hosted the Georgia Independent Baptist Preacher’s Fellowship! I wanted to express my great appreciation to all of you that did so much to make it a very special day!

Thank you to Brother Tony Howeth and Brother Roger Green for bringing wonderful messages. Both messages were great and they were very helpful messages. Several people commented to me on the messages and what a blessing they were.

I also want to thank all of you that helped with the food! We had a wonderful meal. Thank you to my wife Betty and to Sandy Pearson who both did a tremendous job. Whenever something needs done you do not have to question Sandy! She will be on the job! She carries a heavy load at our church. She does much of the book work, always cooking and preparing food, checking everything around the building etc. Thank you Betty and Sandy for all you did yesterday!

Thank you to Stephanie Cornwell and Amy Coffey for fixing deserts.

Thank you to Philip Bassham for leading the music. Thank you to the guys who set everything up and I do not know who all did that but the staff and students here do such a wonderful job. Thank you for cleaning and preparing everything to be a blessing to our guests.

Thank you to Mariangela Simeon, Kathy Fies, Rachel Ball and Kristen Pearson for the special music. I knew you would do great and you did. You literally knocked it out of the park. I am so very proud of our music and you guys just get better and better every day.

Thank you Robert Canfield for all you do with the signs to make it possible for everyone to find the church. Being in a business park has its advantages but it also has its challenges but you do a great job helping people to find us.

I am sure that I am forgetting someone who did a lot so please know as the unsung hero that I noticed all that you did and that I appreciate all that was done yesterday to make it a great success.

As well as you did yesterday I know that we are well on our way to making Celebration Sunday and Easter Sunday a great success. Be praying now and preparing for a great day for the Lord on these two special Sundays.

Celebration and Easter are really getting close!

Did you know that Celebration Sunday and Easter Sunday are just around the corner. This year Easter is in March which means it is coming up very fast. So I wanted to ask you to mark your calendars and also to begin praying that we will be able to reach lots of people on these two very special Sundays.

It just so happens that Easter is in March this year and so is our anniversary Sunday. March 16th will be Celebration Sunday and you will notice a lot of special plans for that day as we get closer. Then March 23rd will be Easter Sunday. Everybody ought to go to church at least on Easter Sunday so I want you to begin asking people to pray for these special days.

God please help us!

This came through on one of the blogs that I read every day. I couldn’t let this one go by without bringing it to your attention.

Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father’s house: For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. (Luke 16:27-28)

In imagination–I pray that it may be only in imagination–I see some of you die unsaved; and I see you as you pass into the next world unpardoned, and your soul realizes, for the first time, what was the experience of the rich man, of whom our Savior said, “In Hell he lifted up his eyes”–as though he had been asleep before and had only awakened to his true condition. “He lifted up his eyes” and gazed all around, but he could see nothing except that which caused him dismay and horror; there was no trace of joy or hope, no track of ease or peace.

Then, through the awful gloom, came the sound of questions as these: “Where are you, sinner? You were in a house of prayer a few weeks ago, and the preacher urged you to seek the Lord; but you procrastinated. Where are you now? You said there was no such place as Hell; but what do you say about it now? Where are you? You despised Heaven and refused Christ; where are you now? The Lord in mercy preserve all of you from that!

(Charles Spurgeon, At the Master’s Feet, February 17)

Our newest member!

Mugunna James joined the church this morning! He has been attending several weeks now. James is from Kenya. This morning after we accepted him into membership He quoted John 3:16 in Swahili for us. What a blessing that God would give us people from all over the world.

We had 115 in Sunday School and 117 in church I believe. The offering for Jason Holt is coming along. I think that we took up over $800 this morning and now have nearly $1,000! I am asking God to let us give at least $2,000 to this special need.

Also I just talked to our friend in North Africa. Today was their first service as a church. Our friend preached in Arabic. God is really using Project North Africa. I am so very proud of them. Tomorrow they take off for a two day trip to deal with other contacts and try to disciple a couple and witness to others. I think that they plan to talk to 8 total with a scheduled appointment.

God is great and doing a great work in the lives of our friends there. Please continue to pray for them.

Pray for Philip Bassham that he will soon get well and get his voice back. I would really like to see God work a miracle and be able to have him sing and lead singing on Tuesday for the Pastor’s Fellowship. I am really looking forward to the fellowship meeting because some special friends are planning on coming like, Pastor Eric Byrd and Pastor Derik Lawrence. I hope you will make plans to help us really do this day up right!

I know that I have run on about a lot but there is so much going on and it is wonderful.

Kelli Canfield day!

I just had lunch with my sister, Vicki, and her husband Bobby who were with us this morning. My parents had invited all of us to Arthur and Justine’s place which is a wonderful Chinese restaurant–JAZ Chinese Cuisine. We had a great lunch, great service, and a great time together as a family.

While we were sitting there we were talking about how great it was at church today. James Maguna joined–that made the day a wonderful day all by itself but more on that in another post.

My mother who is actually a great teacher and has been for me years began talking to me about Kelli’s class and how she handles things. I heard about a piggy bank that she uses to motivate the children. My mother says that she has wonderful control and that the very small children are really excited and learning in the class.

My mother said that Kelli was one of the best teachers that she has ever heard. Well Kelli if I were you I would take that as an extremely high complement.

Congratulations on the great job that you are doing. You are a great blessing and I know that God is going to use you and Robert to do great things in His kingdom.
