Well I finished my pie for the Contest tomorrow! I am sure not to win but you probably won’t die when you taste it!
I do know one thing and that is the eating of the pie is far easier than the making of the pie. I gained new respect for my wife and all of you ladies as you cook and prepare so much for us. Boy the next time I eat a piece of pie I am going to thank you about double or triple.
Well I can’t wait for tomorrow and to be bluntly honest with you it has nothing to do with it being Round Up Sunday or the fact that I will be dressed in all of my cowboy regalia. Nor does it have anything to do with a barbecue sandwich or a pie making contest.
I am excited because I will get to see some people that maybe haven’t been in church in a while. I will get to worship our great God with all of you. I will get to open the precious Word of God and preach its truths once again.
I love all the fun stuff but unless you know for yourself I could never tell you how much I love the Word of God. I love preaching it. I love studying the Bible. I love worshiping God. I love the church. I have always loved being with God’s people and studying and learning all that I can about God and His will for my life. Tomorrow that is exactly what we will be doing.
Well what else can I say! Trent Cornwell is a great youth pastor. He did a great job today as he hosted (at our church) the North Georgia Youth Fellowship. At least 7 churches were represented I believe. Trent incorporated world evangelism into everything he did today.
Trent’s dream is to be a mission’s mobilizer and that he was today! He had the kids learn about China, talk to a missionary in China, who is a great friend and also a great man of God and hear from another missionary, Jeff Bush.
I can not explain to you how proud I was of all of our young people today! They sang as a choir–Adam looked like he would bust with pride and I was having an even worse case of it! Our young ladies sang like angels! Our Vision singing groups sang as well and all I could say was I gave thanks to God over and over for each of you.
I watched our young people set everything up, organize, take up an offering, and just do whatever Trent needed them to do plus serve the pastors and youth directors.
I saw our church people working hard to help Trent host everything and all I can say is that I am very proud of all of you and thank God for you.
I thank God for Stephanie Cornwell, she is such a good wife for Trent and a good example and worker in the teen ministry! I also thank God for Chris and Kathy Fies and all the work that they so selflessly do!
Then there was Mark Coffey doing one of the things that he always does so well–making somebody else look good!
We are a blessed church with some great people! We have a wonderful church staff! I am a blessed man to be able to serve in a church like Vision and I thank Him and you!
Jeff Bush did a tremendous job preaching as he always does. It was a wonderful day!
Well there is a house full of young people from several churches around the city of Atlanta. We are privileged to have this group of young people visit with us for the first time. I believe that so far there are 6 churches represented.
I pray that God will call young men to preach and send them from here around the USA and then around the world carrying the name of the Lord Jesus.
They have been singing some and just sang a beautiful song called “Complete in Thee!”
We also watched the youth directors play a game similar to Rock, paper, and scissors.
Now they have Jacob on Skype from China playing a missions game. They are asking them questions. The first question was Can you buy a Bible legally in China? The answer is yes and it is legal. No one got it right!
The next question is Are there any legal churches in China? The answer is that there are legal churches in China. Several got this one right.
The next question is Will you find very many cheese products in China? The answer is no! Many are lactose intolerant.
Well that is enough for now. I hope you come the next time. I think you would enjoy it
This has been a very busy week but very good. I had the privilege of preaching Wednesday through Friday night. I preached on Wednesday and Thursday night for Pastor Derik Lawrence at Victory Baptist Church, Loganville. Then on Friday night I was accompanied by Jeff Bush and Wayne Cooke as I went to preach to the Spanish ministry at University Baptist Church where Gary Ledford pastors.
I taught the 4 hours to the missionaries and students at the Our Generation Training Center, spent time with the missionaries, studied, and prayed. I love the work and I have had a wonderful time just serving God.
Now I am looking forward to a great day. We are going to the Visitation Breakfast in just a minute, then the youth activity later this afternoon so another busy day. I have tons of studying to do and I need to make calls and get in touch with some people to make sure that they will be with us tomorrow.
I have to make a pie. That is the biggest challenge that I will have today. I can’t wait for tomorrow to see what God is going to do in and through all of us. Thanks for all you do.
If you came to our mission’s conference you had the privilege of enjoying some of Trent Cornwell’s interviews. Tomorrow Jeff Bush will be preaching to the Young People of the North Georgia Youth Fellowship here at Vision and so I wanted those of you that will not be able to be with us to enjoy the video. If you know Jeff you are going to love this interview.
Don’t miss our special day of visitation tomorrow! We will meet here at the church at 9:15 am for a wonderful breakfast, great fellowship, a special challenge and then go out to see what we can do to round up all of our people for our special Round Up Sunday.
I hope you will find all of your family members, church members, people who have visited our church etc to be with us for this very exciting day.
Well tonight I will be preaching at University Baptist Church with Pastor Gary Ledford in the Spanish ministry at 7 pm. If you get this before the hour be sure to pray for me that God would use me for His honor and glory. I love preaching in Spanish and so I feel sure that I will enjoy the service there.
Hey, my Cowboy boots are here now, so is my big Cowboy belt, shirt, are all here now. Boy you guys are going to get a good laugh when you see me on Sunday. I hope you are inviting people and getting ready for our big day.
Well tomorrow afternoon we will have the privilege in the ministry of Trent Cornwell and the Students of Vision to host the North Georgia Youth Fellowship. we are expecting over 125 teens to converge on our church at about 4 p.m.
If you are able to come and get here at about 6 pm you should be able to hear Jeff Bush preach to the young people and I believe you will really enjoy the special message.
And then get ready for Sunday morning as we have our Round Up Sunday. I have borrowed some Cowboy boots, and Betty has rounded me up some clothes to look the part of Round Up.
I will also be getting my pie ready. I think that I will win because I cook so much and so often.
Well I can’t wait to see you since I missed Thursday so get ready and lets ask God for a great day at our church.
I was able to preach on Hundredfold Men and only finished the first point. I really enjoyed being with them and was very excited to see how God is moving in their church.
I really am looking forward to the great plans God has for that church and its ministry. You can follow their blog by clicking on the Pastor’s name at the beginning of this article or by looking at the blogroll to the side of this blog and clicking on Derik Lawrence, Victory Baptist.
God gave me an extra blessing last night to have Missionary Jeff Bush accompany me on the 90 something minute trip over and for the service.
Mark Tolson preached in my place last night at Vision and all I have heard is how God used him and good the message was. It was also a blessing to have Larry back with us.
