This letter is the latest letter from our own missionary, Chris Gardner. It is actually dated as many of you will recognize due to the fact that God has already provided the pacemaker for Julio. But it will give you an opportunity to see what God is doing in their lives.
Dear Pastors and Praying Friends,
What a month this has been. This has been one of the most incredible months ever for the ministry here in Peru. I am sorry that our prayer letter has come out a few days later than normal, but things have been too busy to really have time for a prayer letter. Sorry about that, and we will try to make sure that this doesn’t happen too often. This month, we had our 9th Annual Youth Conference. It went great, we had Harry Strachan and Trent Cornwell do the preaching for us. They both did an incredible job and we enjoyed having them here with us. We saw over 100 people make a profession for Christ. This was very exciting. While this was happening, David Gardner and Julio Soncco had organized a medical clinic on the Bible College property as well. The clinic went great, there was a group of over 60 Americans working during the clinic and many people were seen and helped. Through the clinic, we saw 1490 decisions for Christ. It was so exciting to see all that God did throughout the time everyone was here, close to 1600 decisions in a week has to be a new landmark for the ministry down here. I am so thankful for all of the medical personnel and for David and Julio who worked very hard to make sure that everything went together well. Pray for us as we are now creating a database with all of the decisions that were made during the clinic, we will be passing these out to the different churches here in town. Pray for the counselors that will be going to their houses to see about discipling and helping the ones who have made decisions.
Right now, I am writing this from an airplane taking me from Salt Lake City, Utah to Dallas, TX. I came back to preach at the First Baptist Church of Long Beach’s yearly youth conference. The Lord did some great things through the time that we had there. We saw many young Latin American men and women make decisions. Pray for the ministry there, that God would allow it to continue to be a lighthouse that is reaching out to thousands of men and women. While I am here in the states, I will be preaching in California, Texas, Georgia, North Carolina and Tennessee. Needless to say, this will be a very crazy month. Pray for me as I am here alone that God will use everything to bring honor and glory to his name.
As soon as I return back to Peru, I will be preparing for the annual Pastors School. Pray that this will go well and that we can help others in their outreach. Julio Soncco will be doing the majority of the planning for the conference, so be praying for him as well.
Julio is in desperate need of a pacemaker right now. It looks like we can get the pacemaker for close to $10,000. I want to thank the Lord that we have already had over $4000 donated towards this, from our email updates that we send out. Thanks for all you have done to help with this need. I do not know how the ministry in Peru could be done without the help of the Soncco family.
