Welcome Micah Rastelli as our newest member!

We are honored as a church to have Micah Rastelli as our newest member. Micah moved here from Pennsylvania to study in the Our Generation Training Center. He is a fine young man. He spent the summer with our missionary friends in Morocco.

Micah is a very fine and hard working young man. I hope you will give him a very warm welcome.

I think it is such a great honor that God gives us men and women that want to serve Him with us. Thank you to all of you that are members for all you do to help us get the gospel to the world.

Trip to Tennessee

Well yesterday I left the church to travel to Oliver Springs, Tennessee to preach for Pastor Adolfo Bourde at the Spanish Ministry of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church. Betty and I had a wonderful time traveling and it was really fun to preach in Spanish again. God bless and one gentleman got saved.

Betty and I also had the privilege of staying with my brother and his wife in their new home. God has blessed them and it was good to be with them.

This morning we got up and made the trip back to the church and had a wonderful time preaching in English in Vision Baptist Church.

God has been so good to me allowing me to be the pastor of Vision. You are all a gift from God to us. We are blessed and thank you so much. I am living my dream. I hope you are and if you are not please let us help you do just that.

Teachers and worker’s meeting!

In my opinion one of the most important meetings we have in our church is the Teachers and Worker’s meeting. It is the time we plan and prepare for the work that God has given us. I am excited that God has given us such a good team.

We will be changing the way we do our meetings. On the 1st and 3rd Sundays we will meet with our age group which I will explain in just a minute. On the 2nd and 4th Sundays we will meet all together.

The meeting will take place at 5:30 and be over by 5:50. The evening service will then start at 6 pm.

David Lundy will meet with all of those that teach in the Children’s Sunday School, Master’s Club, or Faith Friends. Also if you are interested in working in the Vision Children’s ministry you need to be in this meeting.

Trent Cornwell will meet in the teen room with those that work in the teen department (7th-12th grade) and any who want to help.

The adult class teachers and workers will meet with me in my office, Pastor’s Office. I look forward to seeing each of you.

What’s wrong blogging!

Well I have been blogging so much that when I miss a few days or blog less some of my friends think that something must be wrong. I got a call from one of our friends over seas and the wife said–you need to ask him if he is ok, is he traveling, sick, or discouraged?!

This past weekend we had Joy, Julio, Benjamin and Lelia with us as well as Chris. That meant that after work and services I was very swamped with family. Stephanie and her boys came up, David and Katie were around and so needless to say my time got a way from me.

It was wonderful to have all the family together except for Andria, Jacob, Hannah, and Andrew and David Young. So our family all 15 of us were together and it was fun but hectic. At CiCi’s pizza they asked me how my children were doing. I said I am the granddad not the dad. Boy was he in shock.

So I am not bad off–just been busy, and a very good busy. Thanks for your prayers and your concern.

Julio and Joy Soncco are our newest members!

Well we were blessed tonight by having Julio and Joy Soncco join our church. They come to us from Whitfield Baptist Church where our family were members for nearly 20 years! Joy is our daughter (Austin and Betty)! They are serving God in Peru and our church already supports them as missionaries. They help Chris in the ministry of the Bible College. Julio serves in a helps ministry as Chris’ assistant.

The construction of the Bible College and any thing else Chris needs is how Julio serves. Chris says that Julio is invaluable to the work.

It is an honor to have them in our church. That is two of our children now that are members of Vision and Betty and I are very proud of them and thank you for loving them as you have done so kindly.

Welcome home–Mark and Natasha

Mark and Natasha Tolson were back home and with us today. They got married on August 18, 2007. They just returned from their honeymoon to be with us for Matthew’s banquet. Mark and Natasha seem to be so happy and it is a great honor to have such a fine young couple in our church. God is going to greatly use them without a doubt.

I as pastor am very proud of them. God has given me the great honor and privilege of training some of the finest young men and women in the world. Literally you have no idea of the quality and caliber of young people that we have amongst us.

Some day you will hear from them as they are serving God on the front lines. I have helped train a lot of young men and women who are in the ministry and across the world right now. I tell you now that you are going to be pleasantly shocked at what you see from the lives of these young people in the next few years is Jesus tarries His coming.

Another God blessed day!

Well today was our Matthew’s Banquet and God greatly blessed. Though many of our regulars were out of town we still had a good number of visitors.

There were 35 in the Spanish church and 4 accepted Jesus as their Saviour. Pastor Ronald is doing a great job and we are blessed to have him.

David and Anne Lundy had 32 in the children’s ministry and I have heard many compliments of them and the work they do. Be sure and click here to read the Faith Friends blog.

Our total attendance for today was 125 in Sunday School, 166 for the morning service and then 87 for the evening service. God has been so good to our church.

I am so very proud of everyone of you. Thank you for praying, for inviting your friends, for doing all the work to set everything up, being so friendly, and for just being you. You are doing a great job. If it weren’t for your friendliness and hard work we would not be seeing the results that we are. You are the greatest.

I am privileged and honored to work with people like you. I was so proud of Philip and the music today. Everyday they seem to get better. John does such a good job with the offering devotional, Trent is fantastic with the announcements. What can I say–we are blessed with the best team in the world.

Tony Howeth helped by organizing everything. He is so good! He knows just what to do and when. Mark Coffey is more than a right hand to me. I count it a great honor and privilege to work with him.

I thank each of you for all you did in your Sunday School classes.

Let me remind you that He will not forget what you are doing for His name. He will not forget even a glass of cold water in the name of Jesus.

I am tired but satisfied. As my old friend, Paul Forsyth, used to say–Ain’t it wild! That is how I feel tonight. God bless each of you.

Betty and I are blessed.

Loving someone!

I just thought that I would share some notes that I came across on the computer!

Can you honestly love someone and not pick up their loves? If you love God, how can you not want what He wants?

We are supposed to be men and women of sorrows. This is a society where you get a good retirement and it’s better than dying for Him.

We are the “me” generation. We want things for ourselves. Read a book written 60-100 years ago and you will see a different caliber of person The 1950’s was the end of the big missionary movement.

Now we have the philosophy that if it is dangerous, don’t go. It used to be, we have to go, we don’t have to come back. We don’t feel we need to get the Gospel to all the world.

You talk about what you are eaten up with. Our prayer meetings are don’t let us die, living is too much fun.

We never pray for a country, or for laborers to go to foreign countries.

Home Improvement 3

Hold your tongue!

1Pe 3:8 Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:
1Pe 3:9 Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.
1Pe 3:10 For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:

Talking about improving the home is an exciting, important and easily answered from the Bible topic. There are tons of things that could be talked about but notice this one:

Refrain (hold) your tongue from evil. When we are discussing things in our marriage it is easy to let it turn ugly. We talk at the wrong time–we are tired, worried, preoccupied with other things. We do not pay attention to what our partner is saying. We begin to be critical and say things to hurt and offend.

If we really want to improve our marriage then we need to decide now not to say things that are wrong, hurtful, evil, belittling, and never ever should we use curse words or insults.

Keep the conversation respectful.
