Henry Alvarado, Student of the Week at the Peru Bible College

God has allowed us to see a great ministry started in Arequipa, Peru. Chris and Andria Gardner are doing a great job leading that ministry and I would like to ask you to take a definite part in this ministry by praying for them and by praying for the students. You can also give monthly through your church or directly to support a Bible College student. Why don’t you take on one and make a major difference.

Here is the Henry Alvarado story which is found at this location

My mother was a Jehovah’s Witness and my father believed in God in his own way. Before dying my father went to the Hunter Baptist Church once in a while which made me think that he might have made the decision to be saved. My family was doing pretty good and my dad worked for VOLVO as a heavy machinery mechanic and was a drunk. Because of this kind of life he suffered a heart attack and passed away. Before this I remember that my parents always gave me a lot of material things. However I never saw a male model in my life. I lived a life on the streets. I tried drugs and drank often; I went around with women and places of sin. In 1991 while living in Arequipa I was invited to go to church by my cousin Erica. After going to church a while and studying in the Christian school, and having made an apparent profession of faith I was not yet a Christian. It was on November 9, 1992 while I was talking to the pastor, Carlos Marquina, he explained to me how to be truly saved and after that I received assurance of salvation after he showed me the verse in John that says that no one can take a believer away from the hands of Christ.
