Michael and Cindi Shane joined our church tonight and we are so grateful to God to have them as members of our church. They will begin working hard immediately and be a great blessing. Be sure and let them know just how happy you are that they are joining our church.
It’s no secret that Forsyth County’s population is quickly growing, but it appears that the homes are too.
The U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey released last week ranks Forsyth County as second nationally for having homes with four or more bedrooms out of all counties in the U.S. with populations of more than 65,000.
Davis County, Utah came in first and Fayette County on metro Atlanta’s south side came in third.
Kathy Dill has worked as a realtor in Forsyth County for 12 years. She said bigger homes are definitely a trend in Forsyth County.
“Generally, even if people don’t have larger families they’re wanting larger homes to accommodate in-laws, home offices and that sort of thing, but there definitely does seem to be a higher demand for a four-or five-bedroom home,” she said.
Dill said another trend she has noticed is smaller lot sizes.
“People are wanting a bigger home. They’re wanting a smaller lot with less exterior maintenance and that sort of thing,” she said. “(They want) bigger amenities like pools, tennis courts and that sort of thing.”
Local developer Bryan Martin said he also has noticed a trend toward larger homes in the county.
“I don’t see it changing.” He said. “The land values have gotten so high that it takes that size house to warrant the lot cost.”
The data reflects numbers as of 2005 and shows that as of that year 20 percent of occupied homes in the country had four or more bedrooms.
According to information provided by the bureau, estimates for the American Community Survey are based on an annual, nationwide household sample of about 2.5 percent of the population per year and the data collected helps federal officials decide where to distribute more than $200 billion to state and local governments annually.
The data collected also shows that single-family homes were the most common housing type in 2005 and that apartments with 10 or more units were the second-most common overall.

Have you ever wondered “What’s going on in Children’s Church?”
Have you ever wanted to just come and sit in one Sunday?
Well now you have an open invitation! We would love for you to get involved. We are looking for people to help chaperone on Sunday mornings or Thursday evenings. We have loads of fun, (and you might just learn something too!)
Come see our wall!!!
The children really worked hard to decorate the wall in the room. It shows how we are to use our hands for HIS work.
We have been averaging 20-25 per Sunday in the Faith Friends room which is great, but better than that is the news that James accepted Christ as his personal Savior last month! We are all happy that he made the decision to give his life to Christ. The Williams are a wonderful family who puts God first and it shows in their children.
We are looking forward to Vacation Bible School on July 16th. It will run through the 20th from 6:30-9:00 and dinner will be provided for all children and workers. Also Awanas will begin in August, look for the training session that will be scheduled for workers sometime in June.
We are truley grateful for the opportunity to work with these amazing kids. Come join us sometime!
Our trip to Mexico was an eye opening experience. Juarez, Mexico has a population of 1.5 million people of which 30% are children under the age of 13. Because of this, we will be returning with a team in October to hold a vacation bible school/Children’s Blitz. The purpose of our trip this month was to see what we have to work with and how many children we will be dealing with. What we saw truley shocked us. Juarez is growing at a rate of 1500 homes per week. Each home house 5-10 people, of which at least half are children. In a 4 block area there are easily 600-700 children between the ages of 4-13. These numbers are astonishing when you realize there are only a handful of baptist churches in the city.
God has placed David and Angie Harper in the middle of all of this to take his Word to them. With their help, we were able to meet many children of whom touched our hearts deeply. They have such innocence about them. But many have felt the sting of poverty, molestation, etc… and unless they are raised in a christian home, it becomes a vicious cyle. We just want to be able to share Christ with them.
God is using David and Angie Harper in a great way, please remember them in your prayers as Angie has just finished her last radiation therapy and will be returning in July to see if her cancer has gone into remission.
We also require your prayers as it is illegal in Juarez to hold a public assembly unless you own the land. God has provided several families who are willing to host these meetings for us. Pray this will not cause an issue for them.
God has allowed us to see a great ministry started in Arequipa, Peru. Chris and Andria Gardner are doing a great job leading that ministry and I would like to ask you to take a definite part in this ministry by praying for them and by praying for the students. You can also give monthly through your church or directly to support a Bible College student. Why don’t you take on one and make a major difference.
Here is the Henry Alvarado story which is found at this location
My mother was a Jehovah’s Witness and my father believed in God in his own way. Before dying my father went to the Hunter Baptist Church once in a while which made me think that he might have made the decision to be saved. My family was doing pretty good and my dad worked for VOLVO as a heavy machinery mechanic and was a drunk. Because of this kind of life he suffered a heart attack and passed away. Before this I remember that my parents always gave me a lot of material things. However I never saw a male model in my life. I lived a life on the streets. I tried drugs and drank often; I went around with women and places of sin. In 1991 while living in Arequipa I was invited to go to church by my cousin Erica. After going to church a while and studying in the Christian school, and having made an apparent profession of faith I was not yet a Christian. It was on November 9, 1992 while I was talking to the pastor, Carlos Marquina, he explained to me how to be truly saved and after that I received assurance of salvation after he showed me the verse in John that says that no one can take a believer away from the hands of Christ.

Email is probably the easiest way to keep up with the blog and all that is posted here. You will be able to know all that God is doing with your church so I ask you to click on the following link and get the blog Vision News via email:
Elizabeth Watson is the Sunday School teacher of the week. She leads our WaWa World ministry. WaWa is a Quechua word (huahua) which means baby. So it is appropriate for our nursery. Elizabeth is a very godly lady with a tremendous servant’s heart. She has been such a tremendous blessing to the ministry of Vision Baptist Church.
Please take the time to drop her a note to thank her for her ministry. Pray for her in all the many ministries that she has in our church and especially for her Sunday School class with our smallest children.
Read about the most decorated man in World War I. He professed to be a born again man:
How did York accomplish such a feat? A conversation between Sergeant York and his Division Commander, General Lindsey, in January 1919 when they toured the site where York captured 132 Germans three months earlier reveals Alvin’s thought about this:
General Lindsey: “York, how did you do it?”
Alvin York: “Sir, it is not man power. A higher power than man power guided and watched over me and told me what to do.” And the general bowed his head and put his hand on my shoulder and solemnly said”
General Lindsay: “York, you are right.”
Alvin York: “There can be no doubt in the world of the fact of the divine power being in that. No other power under heaven could bring a man out of a place like that. Men were killed on both sides of me; and I was the biggest and the most exposed of all. Over thirty machine guns were maintaining rapid fire at me, point-blank from a range of about twenty-five yards. When you have God behind you, you can come out on top every time.”
I want to thank each of you today that are serving or have served our country in the United States Military. I thank you and Vision Baptist Church thanks you. We know that the freedoms that we enjoy everyday are due to your service and sacrifice. It bothers me when I hear things said that negatively reflect on our military. Whether someone agrees or not with the war without a doubt all should stand behind our troops. Thank you each for all that you do.
I want to especially thank Steve and Shawna Wallace’s oldest son, Victor, as he serves in the United States Air Force on behalf of his country and also you as all of our military men around world serve you and me with the freedoms that we so richly enjoy.
Thank God for and pray for our military men today.
