How to Deal with the Guilt of Sexual Failure for the Glory of Christ and His Global Cause

Let me challenge you to go read this blog by John Piper: http://blog.worship.com/worship/2007/01/how_to_deal_wit.html

This is just one quote to get you interested:

The Main Tragedy

The great tragedy is not mainly masturbation or fornication or acting like a peeping Tom (or curious Cathy) on the internet. The tragedy is that Satan uses the guilt of these failures to strip you of every radical dream you ever had, or might have, and in its place give you a happy, safe, secure, American life of superficial pleasures until you die in your lakeside rocking chair, wrinkled and useless, leaving a big fat inheritance to your middle-aged children to confirm them in their worldliness. That’s the main tragedy.

The Point: Your Life

What’s the point of all that? The point is not this is what you do with your loose change. The point is: This is what you do with your life. You don’t want always be sitting high in your SUV dropping nickels into other people’s dreams. Satan wants that for you. But you don’t! You want to dream your own dream for the glory of Christ. Why am I on this planet? What has God put me here for?

Nate Saint on Christmas

“As we have a high old time this Christmas, may we who know Christ hear the cry of the damned as they hurtle headlong into the Christless night without ever having a chance. May we be moved with compassion as our Lord was. May we shed tears of repentance for these we have failed to bring out of the darkness. Beyond the smiling scenes of Bethlehem, may we see the crushing agony of Golgotha. May God give us a new vision of His will concerning the lost – and our responsibility.”

First Blessing Service

We held our first ever Missionary Blessing service this past Thursday night.  A and J are missionaries to North Africa with Macedonia World Baptist Missions.  They are members of Grace Baptist Church in Middletown, Ohio.  They have been a tremendous blessing to our church since before we ever started.  Though they are not members they have worked along side us and helped us.  They have prayed with us and served with us.

We can’t commission them or ordain them so we opted for another route.  We held a blessing service like what you would fine in the Old Testament when a leader or father would give his blessing to someone.  We as a church blessed them giving them an offering, a box of blessing letters from us, an inscribed sword, and putting their picture in our special Heros of the Faith Hall.  I want you to go by and see their picture and to remember to pray for them.

A and J we want you to know that we love you and will never forget all that you have done for our church and the kingdom of our God.  We wish you the best and pray that God will richly bless you in your new ministry.

Lord willing there will be a post here in a few days with pictures from this special service as well as from the Summit

Urgent Need in Burkina Faso!!!

I hope everyone is having a Happy New Year. I wanted to let everyone know that we are still $15,0000.00 short of the amount needed for the church building project in Burkina Faso for Bro. Keith Shumaker. There are many Muslims being saved and converted weekly, and he needs this building to continue spreading the Word and training men to further the gospel. The January 15th date to start the construction is rapidly approaching.

Often times we ask what can we do–if we can not go, we can send others. Keith Shumaker is a fine example of one who has gone, and here is our opportunity to have a part in this work. He needs our help. All funds given will go directly to the building of the church. Please pray and seek God’s guidance in your contribution. If you have any questions, feel free to call me on my cell phone at 404-475-8472 or via email at david@bcwe.net. Sincerely,

David Lundy

Chris Gardner Prayer Letter

Christmas in the States
We were able to have Christmas in the States this year with my parents and in-laws.  We really enjoyed the time spent with family and friends in the States.  The day before we left Peru, Faith Baptist Church had a Cantata for Christmas.  We had 257 people in the church on a Wednesday night and I preached when it was all done.  God has given us a great Christmas this year, and we are thankful for it.  While back in the States, we will be preaching in many churches; we are excited about sharing all that God is doing in Peru to reach the entire world with the Gospel.

Kids are doing great
Please be praying for us since the kids have spent so much time with their grandparents.  Needless to say, the discipline that we knew as children is nothing like what our children get from their grandparents.  The grandparents have loved spending time with the kids, and the kids have definitely loved spending Christmas with them.  Jacob will be turning 4 while he is back in the States as well.  I am afraid that they are going to think that the States is nothing but fun and games and getting presents.  Andrew is growing quickly.  He had some problems when he was first born because he wasn’t getting enough nutrition from Mom but now he is doing great.  Pray for our kids as they go back to Peru on the 25th of January.

Bible College
The Bible College is revving up for a new semester; pray for the teachers—especially that this semester will be the best ever.  We have already heard from 60 students wanting to be in the Bible College.  We will not be able to accept this many students because of financial reasons.  Pray for us that we will have wisdom in choosing who we can accept in the college and who will have to be turned down.  While back in the States, we had the privilege of going to the 3rd Summit in Pigeon Forge Tennessee.  This was an incredible time and we saw God do some amazing things.  During this time we had $9500 donated to buy property for Kevin Hall in South Africa to start a church with, we had $8100 donated to Jason Holt in Chile to help him buy the piece of property that they need for the church that they already started, and then we had $2400 donated for the Bible College.  Also, we had 40 people commit to sponsor a student in the Bible College while he is studying there.  What a blessing to see this happen because the Bible College currently has a $3000 deficit each month, and this promised support will help with this problem.  If you would like to sponsor a student, please let us know by emailing us at gardner@uttermost.net.  We are excited about all that God is doing in Peru and we are looking forward to many other things being done.  Pray for the Bible College to continue to have the kind of fruit that it has had in the past.
The Gardners
Chris, Andria, Jacob, Hannah and Andrew

Vision Baptist Church has moved!

We have moved to our new location.  Our phone numbers all remain the same as well as does the post office box but our offices and meeting places have changed.  We are now meeting 1235 Old Alpharetta Road Suite 165.  The new place is both beautiful and much larger.  I know that you are going to enjoy our new temporary home.

We continue to pray that God give us our land and building.  God is doing a great work in our lives and now we are in for a brand new year and a great many more blessings.

Welcome David Velke as our newest member!

We want to welcome a super fine young man into the membership of Vision Baptist Church.  David Velke has surrendered his life to be a missionary and has a great desire to be used of God to get the gospel around the world.  He has already gotten his private pilot’s license and is studying and preparing now in the Training Center to be all that God has for him to be.  Please pray for him and his ministry.
